Genetically Modified Organisms and Why the Public Should be Concerned.

Image
Given the vast array of benefits that genetic engineering has to offer, it’s no wonder that this technology is becoming more and more commonplace. In fact, according to a report by the National Academy of Sciences, “the number of genes that have been modified using genetic engineering techniques has increased exponentially in recent years.” However, despite the many potential benefits of genetic engineering, there is still a great deal of public concern about genetically modified organisms (GMOs). This concern is primarily due to the fact that GMOs can have unforeseen and potentially negative consequences on human health, the environment, and the economy. In this blog post, we will explore the general public’s concern about GMOs and why the public should be concerned about this issue. Let's start with, What are Genetically Modified Organisms? Genetically modified organisms (GMOs) are organisms, either plants or animals, that have had their genetic material altered using genetic eng...

Right to fair trial!

Image
T he right to a fair trial is a fundamental human right. It means that if you are accused of a crime, you have the right to a trial in which you can defend yourself. This right is enshrined in the Universal Declaration of Human Rights and in many other international and national laws. Sadly, this right is not always respected. In many countries, poor and disadvantaged people are often denied a fair trial. They may not have the money to pay for a lawyer, or they may be unable to get a fair hearing because of their social status. This is why it is so important to have organisations like Amnesty International that work to protect the rights of all people. If you are accused of a crime, it is important to remember that you are innocent until proven guilty. You have the right to a fair trial, and you should never give up fighting for your rights. There is a common misconception that those who are accused of crimes are always guilty. However, this is not always the case, as those who are inn...

GLOBAL WARMING AND IT’S SOLUTIONS

Image
Global warming is a big problem and it needs to be taken seriously before it’s too late. The majority of my country, America is not doing enough to combat global warming. I would like the world to know what America is doing and what you can do at home to help lower our carbon footprint and find solutions for this problem. Global warming is the observed and projected increase in the average temperature of Earth’s atmosphere and oceans. What is Global warming ? Over the last century, the Earth’s average temperature has risen by about 0.8 degrees Celsius (1.4 degrees Fahrenheit). The main component of global warming is the increased emission of greenhouse gases. Greenhouse gases are released when we burn fossil fuels like natural gas, oil, and coal. They trap heat in the atmosphere and cause the Earth to warm. The consequences of climate change are already being felt around the world. Sea levels are rising, droughts and floods are becoming more common, and extreme weather events are occur...

Importance of Mental Health

Image
The brain is an organ and as such it needs to function well in order to be able to do its job properly. In the case of mental health, this means that we need to make sure that we are not working with someone who has anxiety in a room that is too hot or too cold. We also need to be conscious of how we are scheduling the work which affects whether the person with anxiety will have a panic attack. In the case of stress and adhd, we need to make sure that there is a calm environment for them and give them tasks which focus on specific skillsets. This can range from something like data entry or proofreading which has very specific steps with little room for interruptions from other things happening in the background. The World Health Organization has already classified mental illness as a global health challenge. Mental health problems can be a result of many different factors, and the most common ones are stress, anxiety, and depression. People with adhd also have their own set of men...

Effects of climate change on earth's mean temperature.

Image
The Earth is Warming The world is undoubtedly warming. The Earth’s average surface temperature has increased by about 1.8°F (1.0°C) since the late 1800s.  The 10 warmest years on record (since 1880) have all occurred since 1998, and all but one happened since 2005. Scientists have high confidence that global temperatures will continue to rise for decades to come, largely due to greenhouse gases produced by human activities. The Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC), which includes more than 300 scientists from the United States and other countries, forecasts a temperature rise of 2.5 to 10 degrees Fahrenheit over the next century. The Greenhouse Effect Light from the sun passes through the atmosphere and is absorbed by the Earth’s surface, heating it up. That energy is then emitted back to the atmosphere. Greenhouse gases , like carbon dioxide and methane , in the atmosphere act like a blanket, absorbing this energy and preventing it from escaping into space. In t...

Climate Change

Image
Climate change is a long-term shift in global or regional climate patterns. Often climate change refers specifically to the rise in global temperatures from the mid-20th century to present. The COP-21 Paris Agreement limiting greenhouse gas emissions was a major achievement on the road to meeting the threat of climate change. But as the evidence becomes increasingly unambiguous that human activity is destabilizing the Earth’s climate and biosphere, policymakers will need to do more. The inherently shared nature of the threat underlines the need for closer and more comprehensive international cooperation to preserve the habitat in which human life has thrived. William Nordhaus, to be honored next week with the Nobel Prize  for his work on environmental economics, wrote in 1977:  “In contemplating the future course of economic growth in the West, scientists are divided between one group crying “wolf” and another which denies that species’ existence. One persistent concern h...
